visual artist/curator

patricia wilson smith

I’m a contemporary artist, living and working in the Kent countryside, near the coast. I’m inspired by the natural world, and intrigued by the endless ways we find to interpret and control it. I’m driven by a curiosity about the past, and a keen interest in the stories we make to understand our history and our place in the world.

Stories inspire my work and help me get a purchase on ideas for commissions and public art projects - I really enjoy the research process; it's an opportunity to discover, uncover and reveal new stories in a visual way.

I’m also an independent curator: curating events and exhibitions is. for me, a brilliant way of collaborating with other artists who share similar interests and questions about contemporary life.
